PDSA
PDSA provides free veterinary treatment for sick and injured pets whose owners cannot afford private veterinary fees. There are PDSA PetAid hospitals and PetAid practices throughout the country and 4,500 pets are treated daily. Volunteers can help support PDSA's work by: volunteering in one of over 150 shops, by joining one of more than 50 local fundraising groups, helping with office administration and occasionally in the PetAid hospitals.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA)
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) works to promote kindness and prevent cruelty to animals through inspections and campaigns. A nationwide voluntary branch structure raises funds and offers practical help in animal care. Volunteer roles include: fundraising, running shops, clinics or welfare centres, looking after animals until new homes are found, public relations and campaign co-ordinators.

Wild Trout Society
The Wild Trout Society is a charitable organisation dedicated to the conservation of wild trout in Britain and Ireland through the protection and restoration of their habitats. Involve volunteers both in the running of the organisation and in habitat improvement projects.

Save the Rhino International
Save the Rhino International (SRI) has evolved into the leading non-profit rhino organisation. The charity is totally committed to ensuring the survival of the rhinoceros species in the wild by working closely with local communities and providing ongoing support for wildlife managers and game rangers in Africa and Asia. The charity’s London-based HQ is run by a small friendly team, who are in constant need of volunteers to assist with fundraising events and office admin.

Cats Protection(formerly Cats Protection League)
Rescue stray and unwanted cats, rehabilitate them and rehome if possible. Run over 247 local groups fostering rescued cats. Maintaining 19 major cat shelters around the UK. 90% of the rescue work is carried out by volunteers.

The Monkey Sanctuary
The Monkey Sanctuary in Cornwall has been the home to a colony of woolly monkeys since 1964. Its original aim was to provide a stable setting in which woolly monkeys, rescued from lives of isolation in zoos or as pets, could live as naturally as possible. Volunteers are involved in a range of roles such as helping to prepare food for the monkeys, designing and making displays and running workshops in the Activity room .

National Canine Defence League
NCDL campaign on dog welfare related issues, maintain rescue centres and find new homes for unwanted dogs. Details of local rescue centres can be found on their website. Volunteer dog walkers and fundraisers are often required, and NCDL also operate a number of charity shops.
