The rapid expansion of human populations and economies in recent decades has placed enormous stresses on natural ecosystems and the species within them. One-third to one-half of the world's terrestrial surface has now been substantially altered by human activity. The vast majority of species must therefore now persist on a greatly reduced and increasingly fragmented natural landscape.

This section focuses on the importance of biodiversity, the major ecosystems across the globe and the need to preserve our endangered wild species.

The sections are as follows:

* Biodiversity

* Ecosystems

* Wild Species

*You can also use the "click able" drop-down navigation menu on the left side of the page to navigate through the sub-sections contents of the Biodiversity menu.
